Water towers : mysterious architectures
From Saturday 24 February to 21 March, an exhibition featuring the work of two Dutch and one Cypriot photographer will be held in Limassol, Cyprus. The subject is water towers. The opening will take place on Friday 23 February at 7pm, hosted by the Mayor of Limassol. The venue for the exhibition is the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre - Apothikes Papadaki. The exhibition is organised by Cathrine-art in collaboration with the Association Les Châteaux d'eau de France and the Nederlandse Watertoren Stichting, among others.
Jo Brunenberg has photographed French water towers. He sees his photographs in the Portraits of Water Castles series as portraits showing a wide range of personalities and characters. The environment and local colour are part of the image.
The work presented by Fons Brasser consists of photographs of the interiors of Dutch water towers. With uncommon visual acuity, Fons has created a characteristic image of the water tower in question. With his intriguing photographs, Fons captures the magic of the water tower.
Dimitris Loutsios has photographed the Limassol water tower in particular. The huge tower is a landmark for the port city and inspired this exhibition.
